The Founding Of Boria (y203)
The Borian Empire, of as we knew it in y457, started as a people, known as the Jamalcians. A small warrior tribe living in the grassy plains of Boldog. At the time, technology was at a stage, in which you could call stone. Although, the Jamalcians, were the first of their people of the grasslands, to discover Bronze working, thus entering their people into a more advanced age of warfare and technology. Being in the grasslands, the people themselves had little knowledge on seafaring, until they conquered the Langarasborn people, more commonly known as the People Of The Ocean, as they were master seafarers, thus leaving them in a state of disarray with their small and pitiful army when they were attacked. With this new and great technology of seafaring, the Jamalcians set out on voyages of conquest and raiding. In y259, a large Jamalcian fleet, was swept away, and three weeks later, crashed into the lands of Hellsbane, or as it was known in y500, Boria. In the ancient beliefs of the Jamalcian people, Hellsbane was a land of Hellfire and terror, a land where all who arrived there would be doomed with death. And upon their arrival in this said to be evil land, the case was different, extremely different. They saw great hills, lushus forests and grasslands, open ravines filled with materials simply sitting there, free to be mined and obtained. These people, now far separated from their old tribe, renamed themselves, to the Borians, or in High Jamalcian, “People of the Bronze Hills”. With their new and advanced bronze technology, they easily overtook the surrounding tribes, and formed their own large and united tribe.
By y304, the Borian people had almost completely dominated the Borian lands, and with the recent discovery of Iron, now had an “Iron” grip on their empire. Their once large tent cities, became fitted with proper houses, and early walls. Up to this point, none had ever been large enough to even consider attacking the Borians, until the rise of the Rasacians, people from the southern continent of Aracia, only separated from Broia, by a large and deep river. The Rasacian people, were fierce warriors, with the same technology as the Borians, but their leaders, were well educated in the art of warfare and thus using this knowledge, split up the once great Borian empire. Thus dawning a new age on the lands of Kromell, a dark age of war and terror.
The Rise Of Masyaf and the Imperial Dynasty (y433)
After the Rasacian people took over the southern parts of Boria, the Northern Kingdoms split up into large and small Duchies and independent states. Verona, claimed all of the thin and long stretch of Northern Boria, bordering with the weak and small remaining tribes of the lands. Masyaf claimed the North Western part of the Empire, and the remaining parts, split into uncountable small independant counties. Masyaf, was the only of the remaining territories to have little to no Political turmoil, as they got what the always wanted, Independence, this attack from the south worked almost perfectly in their benefit. They were the only part of Boria, that still retained the Original culture and language of High Jamalcian, while the remainder of the empire, developed the Borian culture, and language, known as Boracian. In the following years of this dark age, Masyaf grew stronger, and in many people’s eyes, was the shining light coming to sweep away the chaos this age brought with it. The Rasacians treated their conquered people harshly, and beat them, over texted them, and forced the woman and children into forced labor camps in the south. With the rise of a full-blooded Jamalcian family, over ninety percent of the country voted them into power, they were loved, respected, and feared. And with their rule, dawned an age, in which modern (Modern is y845) scholars call the Imperial Dynasty Age. They declared war, simultaneously on each and every major power of the region, and with true Jamalcian war strategies, which the Borians had long forgotten, won the war. And with that, claimed all of Boria, and half of what is now Aracia. After the death of Emperor Ignaliseus Tikand, his only son took power, and guided his people into a new age, and in this new age, conquered all of Aracia, and the southernmost island nation of Hael’mark.
The Long Reign Of Emperor Papus, and the War Of Light (y537)
WIth the empire of Masyaf almost fully united, the only remaining autonomous nations being the clans of Boldog and the Island nation of Trivium to the far east. Although they were so far east, it would be impossible to manage them even if he successfully took them over. Under the control of Emperor Papus, the grandson of Ignaliseus, he instituted a mandatory religion, to try and take further control of his nation, as the only ones besides him, still following the traditional Jamalcian religion, known as Jamelti-ical, or simply, as put by the modern scholars, Totemism were the people of the original kingdom area of Masyaf. He attempted to drive out the worship of one god, to whom the southerners called the Maker. They preached peace, while Totemism preached war, and prowess. Not even three weeks after the institution of mandatory worship of the traditional religion, did the entire south and half of the northern empire, declare independance, so beginning the War Of Light, as the Maker followers called it. The traditionalists, called the War On Heathens. Although, Papus was no fool, he suspected a revolt, and to prevent this, he left little soldiers in the southern counties, allowing him to have control over the majority of the army. Although one thing he did not account for, was that each and every radical followers of the Maker (About 73% of the rebels) to pick up a sword, and fight themselves. This left the two armies, evenly matched. The traditionalists, with roughly eighty thousand, against the rebel army of ninety three thousand, which many were well unequipped. The war itself lasted only thirteen short years, having uncountable small skirmishes, and only a handful of major wars, a few we will touch on here. The Battle Of Vanderville. This major port city, was the first major strategic win for the Traditionalists. By seizing this port, they now controlled the majority (53%) of the rebels trade, as well as one of their major naval outposts. The actual battle lasted only two days, until the rebel army retreated into the city, and the traditionalists blockaded their port, and surround the city. It was two years and eleven months before they ran out of food, and surrendered. Upon their surrender, the army slaughtered every man and male child, forcing the remainder into slavery, and burning the city to the ground. Another of the major battles, was the fight for Port Kane, the capital of the revolt. This battle, lasted only seven days, but was the bloodiest battle of the war. One field officer reports that his clothes were stained multiple shades of blood red, and the surrounding fields were bathed in blood many times over. Mutilated and gored corpses of men on both sides lay strewn about, and in the end, both sides suffered uncountable casualties. But that bloody battle, did not end the war itself, what did, was the burning of Saint Abriael’s Cathedral, capital of the Maker’s religion. There was no fight, just the slaughter of each and every member of the religion staying there, and the complete destruction of the cathedral, not even leaving a ruin. When the fires finally settled, the traditionalists lay a symbol of their religion, in the ashes of what was once considered a holy place, that night, the soldiers bathed in the blood of the rebels, and ate much of their food, leaving a torn apart and starved out country, where the rebels once lived. After the war, Emperor Papus, reinstated his legions to enforce new laws throughout the once rebel lands, and he banned any and all worship of other religions. For this, only the people of the original country of Masyaf loved him, all others resented him, and damned him to hell.
A New Boria, And The Fall Of The Imperial Dynasty (y724)
With the death of Emperor Papus, he left no heir, and so died the last full-blooded Jamalcian in the world. With his death, left a disputed succession, and the eventual schism of the empire. The original members of Masyaf, voted for his closest kin, his cousin Herald, who was a mere 45% Jamalcian, and the North Western third of the country, wanted an election for his replacement, while the southerners, wanted to instate a religious figure in power, a priestess of the Maker. And these disputed lasted forty two long years, assassinations occurred, fights, and long discussions that always led nowhere. In the end, the once great and mighty empire, split into three. Masyaf, keeping the kin of Papaus as their monarch, stayed in their original small country, leaving New Boria in the west, with an elective monarchy, and the Imperials in the south, with a religious figure as emperor.
What happened to Jamalcian in Boldog? (y231)
Shortly after the disappearance of the biggest fleet in Jamalcian, their naval power began a steep decline, and the attacks they once led against others, were now directed against them. The army was powerless to stop the bombardment from the sea, as their fleet was far too small to fight away the raiders. Eventually, as the years passed by, the Jamalcian people began to die off, as their income fell tremendously from sea trade, as it was not possible with no navy, and the army fell to attrition, due to lack of pay and food, as the ones who fed them were broke. In the end, the city-state of Rantel invaded, and took over their once great empire in four months. The leader was beheaded, and the Jamalcian people were officially no more. Over time, disputes and wars led to the destruction of all evidence of Jamalcian culture and religion, and the modern day knowledge of them is limited to ancient Borian scrolls and texts speaking of where they came from.
Recent Notable Events In Aracia (y800-y845)
At the crowning of Emperor-Pope Luthor Duccio, the people of the Imperial Empire, knew he would bring great change, after the death of their last emperor, he left the empire in a state of slight disarray, trade with West Boria and the not-so-new kingdom of Verona, which rebelled against East Boria, which was a rebel kingdom of West Boria, was currently blockaded, as an insult on Verona’s King angered him to the point where he embargoed our empire. This embargo left over twenty four hundred people without a job, and the economy began a slow and steady decline. Emperor-Pope Luthor Duccio, was on good terms with the King Of Verona, and shortly after his crowning, trade reported, and put everyone back to work.
Months after Verona began to trade again with the Imperials, East Boria wanted a chunk of the coin, and tried to blockade Verona’s ports, but they were met with a naval force, so powerful, they completely destroyed the Royal Navy of East Boria, and proceeded to march Verona’s armies into East Boira, and claim half of their country, and execute their king.
